Spreading the Sunshine #1 - Smile from a Stranger

Image
A Story:
Have you ever had that experience in your life when someone you barely know, or even a complete stranger says or does something that you always remember? It may be a simple word of encouragement or a subtle smile. Have you ever had a random person come up to you, and share some advice or establish a simple understanding? We all have experienced these small acts of goodwill in our lives. It always seems to be the littlest things that have the greatest impact on us. For example, I remember back when I was eleven years old (I even knew I was a writer then) eating at a local Denny's with my dad. I had brought with me a book about writing, to read while we waited for our food. The friendly young waitress, who looked to be in her twenties, greeted me in a peppy voice and exclaimed   "You're a writer! I have that book at home as well. I am currently trying to get a few novels published, and this is my daytime job. What stories are you working on right now?"

Returning After A Long Vacation

I'M BACK!!!!!!!!!

( If you have not yet seen Avengers Endgame please skip down past this next line)

This must be how Peter Parker and everyone else felt at the end of Endgame.

Sorry I just have to say that because Marvel has been on my mind lately
( where are my Iron man fans?).

But yes, I am back!!! I wouldn't abandon my sunny blog. My friend and I haven't gone off the grid together yet, so no need to worry ( that will be further in the future 🤫 ).

Wow it's great to be back after my November blogging vacation. Sometimes writing is just the thing you need to let your chaos of thoughts go neatly onto paper.

I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving because I sure did. Between smoked turkey, my GranAnnie's ( grandma) cooking, and the late movie nights how could I not have enjoyed myself? 😊 But through all of this I think my favorite part of Fall is the cool weather. My fellow southerners should understand that statement.

So begins my ramble.

How to Make My Previous Short Story a Novel
Hello fellow writers! Today I write to you seeking your opinions and advice. So, you may have read my previous post with the short story Be Strong Like the Stars. After some advice from a friend and reading The Story Sponge's helpful Ten Easy Steps to Become an Effective Writer post, I have some different ideas  on how to turn this unedited and unrevised written on the spot short story into a legitimate well written and thought through novel. So, here are some things I am changing or thinking of for my beginning November Novel ( even though I am not planning on NaNoWriMo ). Comment below on your opinionand feel free to share some friendly writer to writer advice (it would be appreciated). And
onto my brainstorming....... (make sure to read previous post before this part)

- A Little Less Loss So, the creation of Be Strong Like the stars began with me wanting to prove to myself I could write something that would move my reader to t…

Stargazing #1

Image
I would like to give a quick and sincere apology for this being a late post. Last week was a little busy and crazy for me, but I make up for it with this here work of fiction. Comment down below if I should make a novel out of this like my friend Abigayle ( spelled uniquely and beautifully like that, it's not a typo ) wants me to. Also, it would have lots of happier parts if I make it an entire novel, sorry this is kind of the low sad point in the story.
Introducing the series for November I call
"Stargazing".
Be Strong Like The Stars
Alice Thompson sat on the edge of the cliff, her legs dangling over the edge, as she gazed upward, mesmerized by the stars and sparkling stellar dust that flooded the night sky. Growing up in the country, she had always kept her silent tradition every night to stare at the starlit night sky, out away from streetlights and distractions. It was her chance to quietly think, say her prayers, and it gave her a moment to forget the trials…

20 Questions Book Tag

Image
THANKS ALABAMA FOR TAGGING ME!!!
And I jump right into the questions.... 1. How many books are too many in a series? I would say about seven. Though it is sad when it ends, by this point it just gets old. 2. How do you feel about cliff-hangers? It builds suspense! But I only like it when the next book is within your reach, not when I have to wait a few months for the book to be written or published.

3. Hardcover or paperback?
HARDCOVER!!!! XD  It seems so much more sophisticated, and that way the cover does not get bent so easily, which is one of my pet peeves.  4. Favourite book?  The Secret Garden and A Little Princess  -Frances Hodgson Burnett, Little Women -Louisa May Alcott, Anne of Green Gables - L. M. Montgomery. THESE WILL ALWAYS BE TREASURED CLASSIC STORIES LOVED BY ALL. Is it okay that I chose four? 5. Least favourite book? The Dragon in the Sock Drawer. I read this back in my "dragon phase" (still love dragons XD ) and it was just.... boring. The story just seemed b…
